What Is Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis?
Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) is a screening test that measures the mineral composition of a small sample of hair. Because hair grows slowly and accumulates minerals over time, HTMA provides a 3 month window into your body’s mineral status, toxic metal exposure, and key metabolic ratios — information that a single blood draw simply cannot capture.
HTMA is one of the most cost-effective functional tests available and is used clinically to identify hidden patterns of mineral depletion, heavy metal toxicity, adrenal stress, thyroid dysfunction, and nervous system imbalances.
What Does It Measure?
Nutritional Minerals (15+)
Including calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, zinc, copper, iron, manganese, chromium, selenium, phosphorus, and more. These are assessed both individually and as ratios — because mineral balance matters as much as absolute levels.
Toxic Metals

Collection method: Cut from the nape of the neck using clean stainless-steel scissors; place in the provided paper envelope. Thorough instructions are provided.

Hair treatments: Wait at least 6 weeks after chemical treatments (colour, perm, keratin) before sampling. Tints and rinses are fine.
Turnaround Time
Results are typically returned within 3 weeks from the date the laboratory receives your sample.
