DUTCH Adrenal Profile
Chronic stress can cause elevated cortisol leading to various health concerns, such as sleep disturbances and fatigue. Urine testing is the most reliable measure of the stress response and is a critical tool in identifying drivers of clinical conditions that may arise from adrenal fatigue and associated conditions. This profile includes both free cortisone, free cortisol, and the metabolites of cortisol, which is quite unique.
Adrenal fatigue, also known as HPA dysregulation, is a common condition due to many demands our modern lifestyle places on the body. Cortisol is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands in response to stress. Chronic stress can cause elevated levels of cortisol leading to various health concerns, such as anxiety, insomnia, headaches, brain fog, low energy, depression, altered thyroid function, compromised immune function, depression and sexual dysfunction.
Urinary cortisol testing is the most accurate method of testing cortisol and provides bioactive levels, which serve as a critical tool in identifying adrenal and underlying biochemical imbalances. It examines four samples over a 12-hour period – 8 am 12 pm, 4 pm and 8 pm. The advantage of this test, as opposed to others cortisol profiles, is that it includes both free cortisone, free cortisol, as well as cortisol metabolites, which gives a much more accurate indication of adrenal function.
The test kit will be posted out to you upon purchase, and results take 4 weeks to be processed.
